We hosted our first session with The Gables of Ojai! We had so much fun chatting about all things tech-related with these amazing seniors. On August 13th, we’ll be hosting our second event with The Gables of Ojai and HELP of Ojai, where we’ll discuss AI deepfakes and the Messages app, followed by one-on-one sessions.

We had a great time at our second session with The Gables of Ojai and HELP of Ojai. We taught the seniors how to spot the difference between real images and videos and AI-generated ones, shared tips for mastering their Messages app, and ended with one-on-one sessions. Next month (date TBD), we will be back for another event discussing scams and the phone app. We will also partner with The Center at Founders Village Senior & Community Center September 23rd for our first workshop in Orange County!

This afternoon, we visited HELP of Ojai for personalized tech sessions. We sat with each person, listened to their needs, and worked through their device questions together.

We had such a special TechIQ for Seniors event alongside the incredible Thacher Robotics Team. As part of a nationwide robotics competition, the team designs and builds robots that compete by throwing balls into target areas — and we thought it would be extra fun to bring 25971 (our robot!) to the Gables of Ojai to share the excitement with the seniors. The students and seniors had an amazing time learning from one another, asking questions, and sharing plenty of laughs. The joy and curiosity shared between students and seniors made the experience incredibly special.

We had the opportunity of hosting an event at HELP of Ojai, where we explored ChatGPT, the Mail app, and spent time in one-on-one technology conversations. Starting the new year by learning together, sharing stories, and connecting with our seniors was truly amazing!

We had the absolute pleasure of visiting Maravilla Living Center in Santa Barbara for our very first event. It was such a joy to teach and spend time with these amazing ladies, laughing and learning together — especially as we explored how to tell what is real online and what is AI. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to connect, share, and learn alongside them, and we can not wait to return for many more visits in the future.

We received so many positive comments after our ChatGPT + Everything About the Email App presentation! It was a highly requested topic, and we had a great time answering all the questions. It was such a joy to reconnect with the seniors from The Founders Village Senior Center.

“You are all such lovely and helpful students”, “Such a wonderful event”, “When is the next event? I am telling my friends!” Some kind words from seniors at Maravilla in Santa Barbara. We spent the day talking about scams, going through phone apps, sharing stories, and ending with Krispy Kreme doughnuts. We really enjoyed our conversations, and we are looking forward to our next event with this community!

One of the best parts of TechIQ is the connections we get to build. We loved welcoming seniors from The Gables of Ojai to The Thacher School for a visit with the horses. TechIQ is about more than technology, it’s about moments like these that we get to share with the seniors. Huge thank you to Sebastian C. ’26 for sharing a special demonstration. Watching everyone enjoy the animals made the day truly memorable.

Lots of laughter at today’s presentation at Maravilla Senior Center! Volunteer Marlow R. led an engaging session on ChatGPT and the Mail app. Afterward, our volunteers worked one-on-one with seniors to answer personalized questions - from setting alarms to logging into apps and using fingerprint login. We always love coming to Maravilla - the seniors’ enthusiasm and eagerness to learn make every visit so rewarding.

One of our newest members, Noelani B. led an engaging presentation on Robots in Our Community + Everything about the Photo App. The seniors got to watch example videos of robots working closely with seniors and even one running a half marathon race! We love working with the seniors at Fountain Valley Senior Center as they always come excited to learn and participate.

We had the privilege to come back to the HELP of Ojai this month to host a presentation and one on ones. The seniors really enjoyed the one on one session with our volunteers, complementing their patience and problem solving skills. We can not wait to come back to this center!

Back at The Thacher School, seniors from The Gables of Ojai enjoyed some animal love! These beautiful creatures, alongside our volunteers, provided joy, and support to the seniors throughout the visit. We always love having them on campus!

Kicking off our TechIQ summer sessions in Santa Barbara at the Maravilla Senior Center! During our community presentation on robotics and emerging technology, many seniors expressed skepticism and concerns about what the future may hold. Our volunteers helped address those worries by discussing the benefits, challenges, and real-world impact of technological advancements. We enjoyed our time, and are looking forward for our next visit!

Today Marlow R. and Zadin S. volunteered at Maravilla Senior Center for a very engaging discussion about AI in healthcare. They shared the benefits and limitations of the tool where they were met with various questions from our senior citizens curious to learn more. Our volunteers are patient, knowledgeable, and passionate to help our community. We look forward to our next session with this amazing senior center!

Our first event at the Sunset Beach Community Center was a great success! It was especially meaningful to give back to the community where many of our volunteers call home.
Along with our AI vs. Real and Messages presentations, we helped seniors free up storage space, improve battery life, and learn how to use ChatGPT. We also enjoyed some delicious local donuts while connecting with everyone who attended.

It was great to partner with The Gables of Ojai for another TechIQ for Seniors event focused on Artificial Intelligence. We spent the afternoon exploring ChatGPT together, asking questions about everything from the oldest person in the world to Beethoven’s music and some of the hottest places on Earth. The residents always bring so much curiosity to our sessions. We enjoy our visits to The Gables and are grateful for the opportunity to keep learning together.
